As seen in the March Style Magazine!

Thank you to Style Magazine for the full page article about Sierra Moms! The generous coverage included descriptions of the fantastically fun seasonal parties, a photoshoot at a playgroup meet-up, and underscored Sierra Moms’ commitment to giving back to our community through philanthropic endeavors. We are grateful for the shout outs, as well as the adorable pictures of some of our members and their children.

Now is a great time to join Sierra Moms! Membership is just $45 per year, and includes access to all that Sierra Moms offers. There’s no better deal around for so many kid-friendly activities, as well as activities for moms such as book club, cooking club, mom’s night out, fitness events and monthly member socials. Back 2 School Backpack Drive

Thank you to everyone who donated backpacks, school supplies, and money for Twin Lakes Food Bank’s Back 2 School – Give a Kid a Backpack fundraiser at the Summer Splash party. We raised $150, collected 30 backpacks, 17 pencil cases, over 100 glue sticks, 46 packs of crayons, 18 pairs of scissors, and much more! The organizer of the backpack drive said this year was their highest demand so far for school supplies and the Sierra Moms donation really made a difference.

Summer Splash was a Blast!

Our Summer Splash party was last month and it was SO much fun! Sierra Moms families enjoyed a wonderful evening swim at the Folsom Aquatic Center. We noshed on delicious hot dogs from Doggiestyle Hot Dogs and yummy ice cream from the Pink Ice Cream Cart (keep both amazing vendors in mind for your next party!). Thank you to all who came out to play! A special thanks to our party planners, Melissa Ores and Chandra Kramer, and our volunteers who helped out at the event!

Sunridge Park in Rancho Cordova

Sunridge Park is a fairly new park in the new development area near Grant Line Road and Douglas Blvd, so it’s fairly easy to get to from Folsom. The park is worth a visit, especially during the summer when the water features are turned on. It has a lot of universally accessible and unique features without being boring. There is something for everyone here, except perhaps copious amounts of shade, which is in large part because the park is so new that shade trees have not had time to mature.

McKinley Park in East Sacramento

McKinley park is in Sacramento, but it’s right off the freeway and such a cool park with unique play equipment making it worth the 25 minute drive. It’s convenient location just off the freeway also makes a great “stopping over” point to break up the drive to Ikea, the airport, or other out of town destinations. In the spring the trees overlooking the duck pond next to the playground are covered in beautiful pink blossoms.

For a long time McKinley park used to have quite a resemblance to Castle Park. Then in 2012, a third of the playground burned down due to arson. The community rallied support to rebuild the playground, and a year later, completely demoed the old playground and rebuilt it from the ground up with a huge volunteer labor force...
