Sierra Moms is proud to support local charities that through direct donations as well as fund and goods drives among our members. Below you will find a list of charities that support women, children, and families in the greater Sacramento area. This list is meant to be a helpful resource for our members and people in the community who are looking to donate money, goods, or volunteer hours to help local families. The list is not exhaustive. Please contact the charity directly if you have any questions or need more specific information about the charity’s needs.
  • Child Advocates of El Dorado County
    • Purpose: Recruit, train and support caring volunteer advocates for abused, neglected and at-risk children throughout El Dorado County.
    • Needs: Financial donations, volunteers, office supplies, gift cards for gas or coffee, non-perishable snacks and drinks.

  • Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children in Sacramento County
  • Chicks in Crisis
    • Purpose: Reduces the number of infants facing abandonment, foster care, abuse or even death by giving pregnant girls and women in crisis the opportunity to make informed choices for themselves and their children, while developing the skills necessary to become productive members of the community. They facilitate the placement of an average of 30 babies per year in open adoptions that support both the birth mother and the new parents; as well as help over 250 teens/women per month in our community who are choosing to be parents and need guidance.

  • Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento
    • Purpose: Safety net for the area’s abused and neglected children between the ages of 1 and 17. The only emergency shelter of its kind in Sacramento County. Provide food, shelter, clothing, counseling, medical care, etc.
    • Needs: Clothing, gift cards, activity supplies, and anything else you might imagine children between the ages of 1 and 19 would need. Monetary donations

  • El Dorado County Food Bank
    • Purpose: The Food Bank provides food assistance on a daily basis in partnership with over 40 local emergency food response agency sites including battered women
    • Needs: Donate food, money and/or volunteer to help out.

  • Families for Children
    • Purpose: Finding permanent adoptive families for the thousands of California children currently in foster care and provide caring short term foster homes for children temporarily removed from their biological parents.
    • Needs: Monetary donations

  • Foster Family Service
    • Purpose: Foster Family Service has been certifying foster families to care for children in need of a safe, nurturing home.
    • Needs: Monetary donations and volunteer opportunities.

  • Generation Fate (or Simple Heroes)
    • Purpose: Their mission is to engage foster youth in safe and positive activities, during non-school hours, as a foundation to promote caring relationships, provide meaningful opportunities to participate and empower foster youth.

  • Hands for Hope or Youth Making A Difference
    • Purpose: A youth driven volunteer outreach organization with a mission to make a difference in the lives of others with positive actions, kind words, and visions of hope.

  • IPC Infant Parent Center
    • Purpose: Provide counseling services for expectant families, children 0-3 and their parents/caregivers. Trauma/attachment with children in foster care. Post-Adoption Blues. Trauma with adults, EMDR/Brainspotting (BSP). Home Visitation. Family Therapy. Parenting Classes. Reflective Practice. Infant/parent Psychotherapy. Perinatal depression/anxiety.

  • Lilliput Children’s Services
    • Purpose: Lilliput Children’s Services is a private, non-profit agency licensed by the State of California. We’re Northern California’s domestic adoption specialists, completing more foster adoptions than any other private California adoption agency. We are a leading Kinship Care services provider in California.

  • LOVE OLIVIA
    • Purpose: Love, Olivia is designed to be a Social Entrepreneurship to fill a currnet void in our community supporting special needs families.

  • Mercy Folsom Lactation Clinic of the Family Birth Center
    • Purpose: International Board Certified Lactation Consultants will spend time with moms and babies reinforcing proper techniques, answering moms

  • Mugs with Hugs
    • Purpose: Deliver gifts to residents of retirement homes and children at children’s hospitals. They create pure joy moments in the lives of our elderly by facilitating opportunities for families to involve their children in the gift of giving and sharing.

  • New Morning
    • Purpose: New Morning has expanded its work to partner with schools, law enforcement, public agencies, and other nonprofit organizations to build a safety net for nearly 1,500 troubled children in our community each year. New Morning provides the County

  • Paradise Oaks Youth Services
    • Purpose: We offer a treatment foster care program through our Foster Family Agency. The program is designed to meet the educational, medical, and psychological needs of each child. Our Residential Program operates six facilities in the Sacramento Area. We provide a safe, caring & highly structured environment for adolescent males who are diagnosed as severely emotionally disturbed (SED).

  • Peace For Families
    • Purpose: PEACE for Families is a private, non-profit 501(c) (3) (Tax ID 94-2578871) community-based organization providing comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Placer County.

  • Powerhouse Ministries
    • Purpose: Their mission is to bring hope and healing to people who are homeless, in crisis, and those living in at-risk, low-income communities. They provide a secure and healing environment that encompasses physical, spiritual, and emotional safety for all who seek sanctuary within the Powerhouse community.

  • Ripples to Waves
    • Purpose: Ripples to Waves Inc. is a group of volunteers that strives to connect resources with local families who are in need and so often go without. Acting mainly through a Facebook Group, the organization provides assistance and support to families in need by distributing donated items and allowing people to share free items, and offering appropriate resources for help to the local community.
    • Needs: Items in good working order that you would like to give to others for free, including clothing, baby and children’s gear, shoes, linens, housewares, and more. See their website for exclusions.

  • Sacramento Children’s Home
    • Purpose: A safe haven for children and families to end child abuse. Provide twenty-four hour, education and community based programs working to improve the lives of more than 3500 children and 1800 families annually.

  • Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Northern California (Sacramento)
    • Purpose: Provides the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.

  • Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services
    • Purpose: Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services is dedicated to assisting those in need by alleviating their immediate pain and problems and moving them toward self-sufficiency and financial independence. 
    • Needs: Clothing, household goods, school materials, baby supplies, non-perishable food and fresh produce.

  • St John’s Shelter Program for Women and Children
    • Purpose: St. John’s Shelter Program for Women and Children is Sacramento’s only shelter which is exclusively dedicated to supporting homeless women with children. St. John’s strives to advance women from a point of crisis to a position of self-sufficiency in their lives.

  • The Center for Violence Free Relationships
    • Purpose: The Center for Violence-free Relationships is dedicated to building healthy relationships, families, and communities free from sexual assault and domestic violence through education, advocacy, and services in western El Dorado County.

  • WEAVE
    • Purpose: The primary provider of crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Sacramento County.

  • Wind Youth Services
    • Purpose: Our mission is to engage youth experiencing homelessness who need safety from the streets and access to resources to help them move from crisis to healthy functioning and independence.

  • Women’s Empowerment Center
